If a medicine fits
Does a visit mean a prescription?
Interest in a medicine starts a conversation. The prescription comes from the assessment.
An assessment has an open outcome
A prescription is an order from a licensed professional for a medicine. It is the result of a care decision.
Go into the visit ready to ask why a medicine fits, why it may not fit and what else could address your concern.
The prescription still matters online
The pharmacy needs a prescription from a licensed health professional before supplying a prescription medicine. That is the US federal rule checked in September 2026.
A promise of a quick delivery does not answer who assessed you. Ask who makes the prescribing decision and how to ask that person a question.
Can the prescription come from an online visit?
Controlled medicines are drugs with extra government restrictions. Different prescribing rules apply to that group.
For medicines outside the controlled group, an online prescription can be issued without an in-person examination under federal law. Your state may still require one, or your health needs may call for one. This was checked in September 2026.
Semaglutide and tirzepatide, medicines used for diabetes or weight care, are outside the federal controlled-drug group. This was checked in September 2026.

FDA names the US agency that reviews medicines: the Food and Drug Administration.
A pharmacy-made medicine does not get FDA approval just because its ingredient is in an approved drug. This was checked in September 2026.
Keep the product question separate from the question of who prescribed it.
